McLaren Orthopedic Hospital was organized in 2004 as a medical setting for specialized services, with both inpatient and outpatient capabilities. "We have more than 550 physicians, 25 orthopedic surgeons, and specially-trained clinical staff," says Patrick Salow, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, McLaren Orthopedic Hospital.

Orthopedics, long a center of excellence for McLaren Greater Lansing, performs more than 10,000 inpatient and outpatient procedures each year. The demand for our clinical excellence required building a dedicated 33-bed inpatient unit for 2-4 day recovery stays from major orthopedic procedures, a second inpatient unit was added just three years later to meet the demand. McLaren Orthopedic hospital now has 52 beds dedicated to inpatient orthopedics..
More than 50 outpatient procedures are done each day at The Endoscopy Center. The center focuses on colonoscopies, gastrointestinal diagnostics, and surgical intervention for obstructions, ulcers, and acid reflux disease.
Sleep & Alertness Center sees 10-12 patients each day for overnight or daytime sleep studies. While there are approximately 80 different sleep disorders, the medical and clinical staff most frequently observes and treats sleep apnea, Restless Legs Syndrome, narcolepsy, insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders. Board-certified pulmonologists Gauresh Kashyap, M.D., Arshad Abbasi, M.D., and C. Mohan Gera, M.D. oversee the Center’s operations and follow-up care for patients diagnosed with sleep disorders.
Geropsychiatry services are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Inpatient Geropsychiatry can provide multidiciplinary treatment for acute mental health problems in adults sixty years of age and older. The average length of stay on the G.E.M.S. unit is seven to ten days, and outpatient care is then arranged for follow up care after discharge. Outpatients are seen by board certified psychiatrist (with qualifications in geriatrics), William Beecroft, M.D.
